Hi there, I’m super glad you’re here! I’m Trevonna Parker, The Midwife’s Bookkeeper. I'm also a Christian, a wife, a mom of ten alive, and an author. I know how important it is to have a pregnancy and birthing experience that recognizes me as the mom and understands the support that’s necessary for me to willingly push my body to the limits.

I also know how important it is to have a caregiver who is guiding you, championing you, giving you undivided attention during your appointments, and (as obvious as this may sound) allowing you to be a part of your own birthing experience.

For years, I sought out OB/GYN after OB/GYN, trying to find someone who would just let me trust my body—someone who would take time with me and wouldn’t make me feel pressured or foolish if I wanted a peaceful natural, pregnancy and birth without any unnecessary medical or technical interventions.

TIME OUT!

To be clear: I am, by no means, saying that these doctors were innately bad people. (Well, one did seem that way, but that’s a story for a different day.) Overall, they all were very dedicated to their field and the patients they served. They loved babies and thoroughly enjoyed helping families welcome new life into this world. They had just learned to care for a mama and her baby in a different way than what I wanted—simple, natural, unrushed.

In fact, some doctors were closer to the ideal than others, but even still, their understanding and professionalism didn't necessarily spill over to their office staff. Also, even if I had a really nice OB/GYN coupled with a really nice office staff, I still felt rushed (either at my appointments or to quickly and conveniently deliver by way of induction).

Okay, TIME IN!

Intake coordinators asking you to verify information RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR CONTRACTION
Admission staff kindly offering to get a CPS agent to take your nine year old because she’s not allowed to go back with you
Nurses taking your newborn away from you for HOURS and not bringing him back until you make a fuss.
A disgruntled doctor quickly cutting your newborn's umbilical cord WITHOUT ever asking your husband if he wanted to do so—thus breaking a family tradition

I was so excited!

I had found the key (a hidden treasure of sorts)! I would finally be able to unlock the door to a more fulfilling pregnancy/ birth experience. From that moment on, I yearned to be under the care of a midwife, and I tried to make it happen with each one of my later pregnancies.

Unfortunately, it never happened. For reasons beyond my control, I haven’t delivered any of my ten full term babies with a midwife.

I was so determined with my last pregnancy that I called a ton of midwives, scoured websites, videos, sat through webinars—just trying to choose the best midwife, as well as to see to if I could make everything work perfectly, so that I could finally experience the client-centered care so typical under a midwife. I just couldn't make it happen.

I cried.

Oh boy, did I cry. I was so heartbroken. I felt so defeated. I actually felt deflated. A bit of the joy of pregnancy had left me as I began to anticipate going through the same process again, where I would be forced to deny myself (and my baby) the natural, peaceful experience that we both deserved; an experience where we were supported in allowing our bodies to what they are masterfully designed to do.

It's then that I decided:

"If I couldn't SEE a midwife, I would BE a midwife."

I wanted to be there for other moms—giving them the gentle, attentive care that I desired.

I went back to the search engines, watched YouTube, and explored the websites and social media of many midwives who were already in practice.  I priced schools, requested resources, and even signed up for newsletters.

I was serious!

Then one day, it hit me!  With nine alive (and another one on the way) there was no way I was going to be effective in the super busy world of midwifery.

I gave up.

...AT LEAST FOR A TIME. I let the dream go and just decided that I would have to appreciate the hard work that went into the profession of midwifery from afar.

I would just continue down my path of coaching families in the benefits of life insurance and other financial solutions.

Then, one day while doing research, I stumbled upon bookkeeping and tax preparation

It was like a puzzle coming together:  Bookkeeping, Taxes, and Life Insurance—a trifecta for success!

I wanted to be able to give midwives like you my best, so that you would be free to give your clients (and your family) your best.

I don’t have to deliver the babies to help support the profession.

I don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to be by a mom’s side when she courageously uses her body to give a tiny human a shot at success; but, I can help ease the minds and lighten the load of the heroes who do.

So here we are.

I have since focused my attention on mastering all aspects of the bookkeeping part of the trifecta—continually strenghtening my skills in all things bookkeeping, advocacy, and business advisory.

I am on a mission to support life and I look forward to serving midwives and other natural birth specialists(just like you) who love life, but hate bookkeeping.
